“R-loops are fascinating to me due to their dual nature, their presence can be both beneficial and detrimental to cellular functions.”

RNA and RNA:DNA hybrids have been observed at sites of DNA double- strand breaks and have been implicated in the DNA repair process at various stages. My PhD project focuses on investigating the contributions of RNA to DNA repair, more specifically the role of RNA, RNA:DNA hybrids and R-loops in the response to DNA double-strand breaks. Using biochemical and cell biological methods, I will characterise interactions between selected DNA repair proteins and RNA and uncover if and how these interactions modulate the damage response.

I enjoy hiking, music, and graphic design.
