“4R RTG provides me with the perfect media where I can work on my dream project in a vigorous environment with a great group of researchers.”

FUS is a DNA/RNA-binding protein with great pathological relevance in neurodegenerative diseases. Multiple evidence suggests that FUS is recruited to DNA damage sites upon UV irradiation and suppresses transcription-associated DNA damage and R-loop accumulation. My project aims to unravel the molecular mechanisms involved in FUS-mediated R-loop suppression and to understand the recruitment of FUS to DNA damage sites using in vitro and cellular systems.
