“R-loops are fascinating because of their impact on gene expression and many unknown aspects to investigate.”

the interplay between RNA splicing and R-loop formation, particularly in the context of pathologies such as cancer. Mutation or inhibition of core splicing factors has been shown to trigger R-loop accumulation. The study will focus on characterising the direct effects of RNA splicing on R-loop formation and the mechanistic link between them. Various techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and DRIP-seq experiments will be used to gain insight into the molecular processes involved.
