“The dual nature of R-loops as regulators of gene expression and potential threats to genome stability makes them an intriguing subject of study. Despite their importance and links to several pathologies, much remains unknown about how cells sense, regulate, and resolve these structures.”
how cells detect and respond to DNA torsional stress, a major consequence of essential DNA-templated processes and a regulator of R-loop biogenesis and stability. I aim to identify and functionally characterize proteins that are recruited to sites of positive supercoiling in human cells. This would contribute to understanding how DNA topology, chromatin architecture, R-loops and genome maintenance are functionally connected.
I enjoy cooking, nature walks, coffee with friends.
